This image from IGB 6.6 shows a close-up view of two nearby A thaliana Jun 2009 genes on opposite strands. Tracks shown in yellow display alignments of transcriptome assemblies of RNA-Seq data from Arabidopsis seedlings undergoing a severe drought stress and unstressed controls. Transcriptome assemblies were performed using Oases run with the same parameters and data, but with different kmer values. Note how different kmer values yield very different results. Note also how the assembly performed using kmer 21 includes a transcript model that appears to merge adjacent genes from opposite strands.
